Milan SS27: sheer, glossy and layered
Latex-effect rubber, glossy nylon, taffeta and crochet: the materials of Milan's SS27 shows.

Milan Fashion Week SS27 (September 2026) took the sheer story and added shine and volume. nss magazine named "sheer fabrics and plastic materials" and "layer upon layer" among the week's five key trends.
Sheer and plastic
- Ferragamo: semi-transparent, liquid-look latex-effect rubber, a weightless silk shirt and balloon trousers, and a pale blue PVC suit.
- MSGM: an electric blue glossy nylon shirt.
- Moschino: an oversized organza blouse; Blumarine: a nude tulle dress with raised roses.
- Marco Rambaldi and Fendi: long, romantic crochet knit dresses.
Layered textures
Bottega Veneta layered its multicoloured intrecciato weave with crinkled nylon trousers and a long black taffeta dress. Jil Sander showed a yellow taffeta petal dress. Prada, Marni and Gucci brought back checks, stripes and tartan in buttery, vintage tones.
Forecut read
Gloss is the new partner to sheer. Expect lacquered and coated finishes, crinkle nylon and taffeta in SS27 eveningwear and outerwear, and checks to return in shirting. Milano Unica's SS27 "Shadow" theme, with lacquered leather-effect fabrics and luminous jacquards, backs this up at mill level.
