Selling SS27 in the Gulf: Ramadan 2027, Dubai's runway and modest luxury
Ramadan 2027 lands on SS27 deliveries. A guide to Gulf timing, Dubai Fashion Week SS27, modest-luxury shapes and fabrics, and what to ship for Eid 2027.

For brands and manufacturers selling into the Gulf, the 2027 calendar has an unusual shape. The UAE Astronomy Centre, as reported by The National, projects that Ramadan 2027 will begin on about 8 February and that Eid al-Fitr will fall on 9 or 10 March, subject to moon sighting. That puts the region's most important dressing moment right at the start of the northern Spring/Summer 2027 delivery window, when SS27 stock is only just reaching stores elsewhere.
This guide brings together the expected dates, what is on the runway at Dubai Fashion Week this week, recent market figures and Forecut's own SS27 detail tracking, for anyone planning Gulf ranges for Ramadan, Eid and the cooler-season months that follow.
Why the Gulf matters now
Modest fashion is a large and growing category. Salaam Gateway, summarising the State of the Global Islamic Economy 2025/26 report, puts Muslim consumer spending on modest fashion at about $347 billion in 2024, up 6.2% on the year, and projects $444 billion by 2029. Saudi Arabia is one of the three largest markets, alongside Iran and Türkiye. Arab News, citing the Saudi Fashion Commission, reports a forecast of $40 billion for the Saudi fashion market by 2029, with more than half the population under 30.
Climate shapes the calendar. Gulf summers are very hot, so the main retail season runs from about October to March, when temperatures are mild, tourism peaks and weddings cluster. In 2027, Ramadan and Eid sit inside that window, which makes February and March the commercial high point.
What Dubai Fashion Week is showing
Dubai Fashion Week runs from 22 to 26 October 2026 at Dubai Design District, co-founded by d3 and the Arab Fashion Council. FashionNetwork lists designers from Azerbaijan, Colombia, Jordan, South Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Egypt, India, France and Ukraine, with a buyers' programme for regional department stores and online retailers. The National reports that Ludovic de Saint Sernin opens the week, Kuwaiti designer Yousef Al Jasmi shows on the first day, Emirati labels Onori and Kuni make their debuts, and Tarun Tahiliani closes with fluid, draped gowns inspired by the sari, ahead of opening a boutique in Jumeirah.
The mix is the message: the Gulf buyer is international, but expects craft, drape and finish. Al Jazeera's May 2026 report describes the abaya as "a high-fashion heritage statement" and notes Gulf consumers' preference for embellishment, statement silhouettes and couture-level craftsmanship.

SS27 details that suit Gulf customers
Many of the strongest SS27 details already work for modest dressing, which makes adaptation cheaper than designing a separate range. From Forecut's SS27 tracking:
- Sheer organza overlays and sheer-sleeve dresses (both rising): sell them with an opaque lining, slip or long sleeve underneath, so the sheer layer adds lightness without reducing coverage.
- Wide-leg palazzo trousers and fluid satin wide legs (rising): easy under long tunics and open abayas, and dressy enough for iftar gatherings.
- Gathered-waist maxis and tiered maxi skirts (rising): full length is already the default, so only necklines and sleeves need adjusting.
- Tunic-length knits and column knit dresses (rising): fine-gauge versions in viscose or cotton suit air-conditioned malls and cooler evenings.
- Soft drape jackets and longline blazers (rising): the modest answer to SS27 tailoring, worn over long dresses.

Fabric, colour and finish
Choose fabrics that drape and breathe: crepe, georgette, satin-backed crepe, fine linen and lightweight knits, with organza and chiffon for overlays. For Ramadan evenings and Eid, tonal embroidery, crystal or bead accents at cuffs and necklines, and subtle sheen do more than all-over print. The National's preview highlights crystal embellishment on this week's Dubai runways. Keep the palette soft for day (sand, ivory, sage, dusty blue) and richer for evening.

Menswear and family dressing
Eid is a family purchase. For men, grandad-collar linen shirts and drawcord linen trousers (both rising in SS27) sit naturally beside traditional dress for gatherings and travel. Childrenswear and matching family looks are worth a small, early capsule.
Timing: work back from 8 February
- Lock Ramadan and Eid designs and fabrics by early November 2026, so bulk production can finish in December.
- Land stock in Gulf stores and warehouses by mid-January 2027, ahead of the 8 February start and the pre-Ramadan shopping weeks.
- Plan a second, dressier Eid drop for late February, since 2027 dates may shift by a day with the moon sighting.
- Do not just rename a Western SS27 drop as a Ramadan capsule: check sleeve length, neckline, opacity and length on every style.
- After Eid, keep light layers and drapes in stock through March, before the summer heat ends the main season.
