Fabric innovations to watch
Regenerated cellulose, recycled synthetics, agri-waste fibres, bio-based leathers and low-impact dyeing.

Materials are changing faster than silhouettes. These are the innovations Forecut expects to matter most to Indian brands over the next few seasons.
Regenerated cellulose
Lyocell and modal give the softness of viscose with better strength and, in closed-loop production, lower environmental impact. They blend well with cotton and linen.
Recycled synthetics
Recycled polyester and nylon are now standard options for outerwear, linings and activewear. Ask for certification and test performance against virgin fibre.
Agri-waste fibres
Banana, pineapple-leaf and other crop-waste fibres are especially relevant in India, where these raw materials are abundant. Most are used in blends today.
Bio-based leather alternatives
Mycelium, cactus and plant-waste materials are developing quickly but vary in durability and cost. Test carefully before committing to large orders.
Low-impact colour
Digital printing and new dyeing methods reduce water and chemical use, and support smaller, faster production runs.
